Biography
Dr Joseph Babasola Osoba is an Associate Professor of English Linguistics at the Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. His research interests include sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, pragmatics, psycholinguistics, critical linguistics as well as phonetics and phonology. He has been an external examiner to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria and The University of Zululand, Kwadlangezwa, South Africa. He has successfully supervised five Ph.D. candidates while his three other Ph.D. students, at the University of Lagos, are at the final lap of their programmes.
In addition, he has supervised well over four hundred M.A. students in English both at the University of Lagos and at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.He now has about thirty one publications in terms of journal articles, book chapters and review as well as conference proceedings in both reputable local and foreign institution-based outlets. He is the Chair of the 2017 Free Linguistics Conference (first time in Africa) to be held at University of Lagos, Akoka between the 28th and 29th September 2017.
He is a member of three international academic societies.
