Abel Ezeoha has a PhD (2008) in Finance from the University of Nigeria and a post-doctoral research training in Economics and Economic History at Rhodes University, South Africa. His doctoral research, which centred on firm characteristics and financial leverage decisions in Nigeria, attracted funding and technical supports from the UN Compaq and UNISA Centre for Corporate Citizens, American Finance Association, and the Financial Management Association International. Currently, he serves as a full-time professor of Banking and Finance at Alex Ekwueme University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo. Between September 2004 and November 2019, he held a parallel appointment in  the Department of Economics and the Department of Banking and Finance Ebonyi State University. Prior to joining Ebonyi State University, he worked as a Research Asistant to Professor C.U. Uche in the Department of Banking & Finance, University of Nigeria (from March 2001 – December 2002) and as a Senior Consultant at Prudential Trust Company Ltd. Lagos Nigeria (2003). Ezeoha was, between March 2010 and June 2011, an Andrew Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow and a Hobart Houghton Research Fellow – both in the Department of Economics and Economic History, Rhodes University, South Africa.  He was also a CODESRIA Advance Research fellow between 2009 and 2010; and a visiting fellow of the Africa Studies Centre, Leiden University (2015 & 2018). He recently served as a  return-fellow for the Hobart Houghton Research Fellowship in the Department of Economics and Economic History, Rhodes University, South Africa (April 1st to June 30th, 2019). He has won a number of academic research grants, including: American Finance Association Travel Grant (2007), CODESRIA Advance Research Fellowship Grant (2010), Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA) Research Forum Grant (2018), and TetFund Research Grant (2019).
