biography (Education/professional experience/professional accomplishments)
Prof. Daniel C.C. Agu currently serves as a contract professor at the Department of Music, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He obtained his Ph.D at Queen’s University of Belfast Northern Ireland, United Kingdom in 1984. He specialized in Ethnomusicology and Music Composition. Prof. Agu is a member of six International Professional bodies and one National Professional Body in which he is also a Fellow. Had served as Editor-in-chief of two reputable journals. He published ten mainline books, thirtytwo journal articles and seven book chapters. Prof. Agu has served as commissioned composer for some corporations, institutions and governments, some of which are the Old Anambra State Government, British Broadcasting Corporation (B.B.C) London, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Paul University, Awka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and eight Anglican Dioceses in Nigeria. Produced ten compact discs and one DVD, all containing 60 tracks of original choral compositions. Has also composed 23 film and dramatic music. Prof. Agu served as Head of Department at Unizik, U.N.U and University of Ibadan respectively, for a total of seven years. He also served as Dean, Faculty of Arts, and Director, Centre of Excellence for Arts and Humanities, at Unizik. Prof. Agu supervised and graduated 31, Masters Degree and 25 Ph.D students. Served and still serve as External Examiner for Graduate and Post Graduate Programmes in 8 Nigerian Universities and the University of Pretoria, South Africa. |
