PROFILE OF PROFESSOR SUNDAY OGE ELOM

Sunday Oge Elom, Professor of Medical Biochemistry since October 2006, started his teaching career in Anambra State University of Science and Technology, ASUTECH in 1987. Until this present appointment he was the interim Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, FUNAI.
Prof. Sunday Oge Elom is a technocrat, a seasoned Administrator and an erudite scholar. He obtained 1st Class honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and emerged as the best graduating student of the Department and Faculty respectively in 1983.
He obtained a Masters degree in molecular Biology from Vrije University, Brussels and Ph.D in Medical Biochemistry from Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. He has been teaching Medical Biochemistry for several years in Ebonyi State University and in the Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo.
He has published widely in his research areas of Medical Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Prostate Health. He has served as External Examiner for 2nd MBBS, Professional Examinations, M.Sc and Ph.D in several Universities. He has also served as external assessor for Professorial Promotion for some Universities.
His research interest include: Medical Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Prostate Health and Environmental Pollution.
He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He has served as Dean of Students Affairs as well as Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences in Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.
He has served as a member of the Governing Council of EBSU as Senate Representative. He has also served as a member of the Federal Teaching Hospital Management Board.
He is happily married to Dr (Mrs.) Chinyere Elom and the marriage is blessed with beautiful children. Prof. Elom is a Christian and by His grace an elder with Grace of God Mission, Abakaliki Divisional Headquarters.
