The National President of Association of Nigeria Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA), Barr. T. I Igwe has commended the Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Professor Chinedum, Nwajiuba for his numerous efforts geared towards building the professional capacities of the university registry staff.

Igwe made this known yesterday when he led other members of the association that included the National Legal Adviser, Barr. H. L Temine, to visit the Vice-Chancellor at his office as part of their inauguration of the association in the university.

He noted: “The Vice-Chancellor is someone that takes training and professional development seriously and he has continued to sponsor our members from the university to conferences and workshops organized by the association.”

Speaking on the reason for their visit, he stressed that though the university administrators have been registered with the association, nevertheless the local association has not been officially inaugurated by the national body, adding that the inauguration would make them the 98 active member of ANUPA.

“We are here to formally inaugurate the ANUPA, AE-FUNAI Chapter”, he stated, stressing that “the interest of the association was in the training and professionally development of their members.”

He maintained that “ANUPA is a training ground for Nigeria universities administrators, whom he stated were potential registrars of universities.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor wished the association well, adding that he would continue to support the activities of the association by continuously sponsoring staff of the university to their programmes.

Admonishing them, the Vice-Chancellor further urged them to continue to educate their members on the importance of maintaining professionalism, stressing that it was lack of it that has pushed the country backwards.

He also cautioned: “Professional administrators should not be mere boot lickers but apply their administrative acumen to always advise Vice-Chancellors appropriately”, adding “for there to be stability in the public service, professional administrators are very critical.”
