
BATON CHANGES HAND IN AE-FUNAI FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE
Out-going Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Alex Ekwueme Federal University,Ndufu-Alike, Dr. Christiana.O Igberi, yesterday, Thursday, August 29, 2019, at the Faculty, delivered her hand-over speech to staff and officers of the faculty and university as she handed over mantle of leadership to the in-coming Dean, Prof. I. Osakwe, immediate past Dean, School of Post-Graduate Studies.

Dr.Igberistarted herspeech by appreciating VC, Prof.ChinedumNwajiuba, for providing support and the enabling environment that made it possible for her and her team to actualize the goals and aspirations and for the privilege to serve as Dean of the Faculty for two tenures. She said that within the last two sessions, the Faculty organized seminars in different aspects of agriculture with full support of the university management and in collaboration with external bodies.

She furthersaid that the Facultyprovides ample opportunities for students to put the theories into practice in their model Agriculture farm which according to her, is the essence of studying agriculture in the university.The out-going Dean pointed out that conducive environment for research is taken for granted in the Faculty, adding that since she assumed office in Sept, 2017, the Faculty has maintained high quality teaching, backed up with sufficient practical activities and that the Faculty organized excursions on the practical requirements of the different course areas, in two occasions, including exposure of students to fully equipped farms outside the university, such as Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State and others.

Finally,Dr.Igberisaid that hertwotenurein office gave her opportunity to garner new experiences, enough of wonderful time and better grounds to effect results, exhibit more commitment to duty,earn self-courage, skill and reward.
In-coming Dean, Prof. I. Osakwe, expressed gratitude to the university authorities for the opportunity given to him to serve again and this time as Dean, Faculty of Agriculture. He thanked the out-going Dean, for the good work she has done in the Faculty and urged every staff to give him all the necessary support that he will need to continue from where the out-going Dean stopped and possibly do more to take the faculty to next level.

Highlights of the event, were donation oftree seedlings and planting of trees by both out-goingand in-coming Deans, as way of partnering Campus Green Initiative, in the on-going 20,000 trees targeted for 2019, to actualize the Go Green Agenda of the University.
