FUNAI DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL PLANNING BOWS OUT
- As New Director Emerges
It was a moment of mixed feelings on 10th August 2016 as the pioneer Head of Physical Planning and Works Services; Engr. (Dr.) S.C Ojukwu bowed out as a staff of the University.
In a send forth ceremony organised by the staff of the Physical planning and Works Services, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Prof. Chinedum Nwajuba described the outgoing Deputy Director as one of the pillars of the University, and a very pragmatic person. He thanked Engr. Ojukwu for the selfless services he rendered towards the realisation of the University’s vision, and advised the incoming Director to emulate his good virtues.
The Vice Chancellor, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom further pledged to support the Physical planning and Works Department to make FUNAI a world Class University, stressing that their work is indispensable in the achievement of the goal.
In his remarks, the new Director of the Department, Dr. Architect A.I. Ezeocha said that the event was very remarkable, thanking Dr. Ojukwu for contributing meaningfully to the development of the University and noted that pioneering work was not easy, but people can only be remembered through the services they rendered in the course of their career. He further pledged to build on the solid foundations laid by his predecessor.
Speaking on behalf of the department, Engr. U.A. Aloke said that Engr. Ojukwu has laid a solid foundation, and strategically structured the Department for the challenging tasks of Planning, Design, Supervision, Execution and Maintenance of physical infrastructure in the university.
‘He imparted his knowledge and experiences to the staff of the department through leadership by example. One will not forget in a hurry, his sense of discipline, punctuality and positive attitude to work. As a man of impeccable integrity, he was concerned with result delivery rather than material acquisition and will be greatly missed’, he concluded.
In his response, the outgoing Deputy Director, Engr. Ojukwu thanked God for his mercies and the divine opportunity to serve the University and appreciated the staff for their support during his tenure. He attributed his success to God and further admonished them to always put their best in the discharge of their activities, advising them to give the same co-operation he was accorded, to the new Director of Physical Planning and Works Services.
