FUNAI SIGNS MULTI-MILLION NAIRA WORTH MOU FOR INTEGRATED POULTRY FARM

The Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi state has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a consortium of international and local organizations led by Leverage Investments Limited for the building of a million-dollar integrated poultry farm in the University.

Speaking during the signing ceremony held on Thursday, 23rd February, 2016 at the Conference hall, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba said: “We believe in this and we are happy to work with you (Leverage Investments Limited) to make this a reality for our University.”

The Vice Chancellor further charged the partners to commence work in earnest in order to show their seriousness in the project.

When completed, the Integrated Poultry Farm would have 28 broiler houses built in more than 10-hectare of hand within the University to hatch and produce broilers that will carter for the entire South-East market and beyond.

The Poultry Farm is the first of its kind by any Nigerian University and would be a readily-available training facility for students of Agriculture in garnering hands-on experience.

More so, in this period of economic recession, the poultry farm shall be a revenue yielding venture for the University and further help in creating formal and informal jobs for Nigerians
