I HAVE COME TO WORK AND GROW THE UNIVERSITY, VC TELLS SANNU EXECUTIVE

The Vice Chancellor, Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, has vowed to go the extra mile to grow the University and ensure it occupies a pride position in the comity of acclaimed Universities.

The Vice Chancellor stated this when the Interim Executive of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, FUNAI Chapter led by its President Comrade Chigbata Emmanuel paid him a courtesy call in his office.

Professor Nwajiuba stressed that his era as the Vice Chancellor would be remarkable in terms of productivity works and institutionalization of ideas and culture and further promised to increase the population of students, ensure massive expansion of infrastructure and academic activities of the University during his tenure.

He commended SSANU for the visit and charged the executive to do things differently, develop the necessary capacities to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the University, stating that it was not unusual to have such associations in the University. The Vice Chancellor further urged them to liaise and negotiate with the host community in order to buy land where they could build housing estate for members, thereby helping to develop not just the university but also the host community and its environs.

Earlier, the Chairman of the association, Comrade Chigbata thanked the Vice Chancellor for receiving them despite his tight schedule and informed him that their visit was to introduce the interim executive and felicitate with him on his appointment.

The Interim Chairman further assured the Vice Chancellor of the association’s unalloyed support in his quest to lead the University to enviable heights, and also used the opportunity to present other members of the executive committee to him.

Other members of the Interim Executive of SSANU, FUNAI Chapter who were on the visit included Mrs Ugwuocha Nnnena (1st Vice President); Dr. Albi-Oparaocha Florence (2nd Vice President); Barr. Mrs. Grace O. Eze-Ali (Secretary General); Mr. Samuel Ngene (Asst. Secretary General); Mr. Obinna Inya (Financial Secretary); Mrs Uzoije Clementine (Treasurer); Miss Ejidike Chukwunonso (PRO), Barr. Mrs. Onuorah Ogochukwu (Women Leader); Mrs Kalu Ijeoma Awa (Trustee), and Barr. Ayoade A.S (Legal Adviser).
