PARENTS PLEDGE TO PARTNER FUNAI ON INFRASTRUCTURE

Parents and guardians of students of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi state have pledged their support to the infrastructural development of the University.

They made the pledge on Thursday, 13th April, 2017 during a town hall meeting organized by the University to solicit their help in equipping the recently completed Faculty of Engineering and Technology Workshop, meant to equip students of the discipline with the functional knowledge and practical skills to excel in the present world.

Explaining the imperativeness of Engineering in economic development, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba in his opening remarks said: “Engineering is one area that has lots of opportunities. In the present economic situation, practical skills give added advantage to graduates”, adding that the University was geared towards turning out productive engineering graduates that meets the needs of the 21st century economy.

The Vice Chancellor used the opportunity to call on parents and guardians as well as other stakeholders to partner the University in stocking the recently constructed Engineering workshop with the necessary equipment in other to develop the practical capacity of the students.

“Let us share the burden of equipping our Engineering workshop with you for the sake of our children in other to produce quality engineers in future”, and further noted “on the part of the University we will continue to do our best for our students.”

The highpoint of the meeting was the constitution of a 3-man Steering Committee by the parents to implement their decisions on the matter. Members of the Committee include Engr. Chidi Onwe Oga (Chairman),        Chief Okpani Ndukwe (Secretary) and Barr. (Mrs) O.U. Udu (Treasurer).
