Head of Department's Welcome Address
At inception, Physiology Department started as a unit in the Department of Anatomy/Medical Biochemistry/Physiology until 2014/2015 academic session when it became a full-fledged Department with Professor R. O. Nneli as founding Head of Department. Late Professor R. O. Nneli assembled a highly motivated research team of young Physiologists which formed the nucleus that taught physiology to the students in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and later medical students admitted to the University.
The Department turned out her first set of graduate (B.Sc. Physiology) in 2016. Since then, the number of students (both undergraduates and post graduates) in the department has grown tremendously over the years. In August 2019, the Department made history as first ever to graduate M.Sc. student in the University.
The Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medicine, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike believes in collective responsibility which over the years made the Lecturers and Technologists professionals and also has aided the growth and development of the department.
