This is the “local police” of the University community. It is saddled with the responsibility of maintaining law and order ON CAMPUS. It also protects lives and properties and works in close collaboration with other law enforcement agencies as well as the local vigilantes.
The Vice Chancellor is the number one security officer of the institution but delegates the day-to-day running of the security department to department headed by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) who is the arrow head of all security operations in the CAMPUS. He deploys his men to guard important places on the campus and ensures adequate supervision, control, direction and the general administration and discipline of the security staff. There are also other supervisors to assist him in the discharge of his duties.
