SPORTS UNIT
FUNAI maintains a robust sporting and athletic culture for which facilities are available on campus. These include facilities for athletics (Track and Field), Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Scrabble, Chess, Baseball and Softball. There is also the Vice-Chancellor Inter-departmental soccer competition and Registrar’s volleyball competition.
All these are put in place to encourage students’ participation in sports from departmental to faculty level and for university representations.
The objections of the sports units are;
- To ensure the mental and physical fitness of all FUNAI management, staff and students.
- To prepare FUNAI students for sporting excellence in all aspects of life.
- To act as a platform of interaction among the management, staff and students.
- To place FUNAI in global map of sporting competitions
- To enhance the educational experience,-creating overall balance and developing character in pursuit of excellence and integrity through sports.
The official name of the school team is known as TEAM FUNAI and the University Management had formally registered with the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) which qualifies the team to participate in all NUGA organized programmes and events.
It is our belief that FUNAI would provide high caliber students athletes that will go further to represent the University and Nigeria at the West-African Universities Games, African Universities Games and the World Universities Games (FISU)
