biography (Education/professional experience/professional accomplishments)
Dr. Ephraim K. Ugochukwu serves as Lecturer II at the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He obtained his Ph.D in Sculpture (Studio) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Kaduna State in 2017. Dr. Ugochukwu research and philosophy expresses the Igbo uli cultural symbolism. In his quest to derive sculptures from them, he strongly believes that his ancestry origin has so much concealed and yet to be taped ideology. He engages divers’ materials to interrogate, create and actualize his innovative entity in order to provoke its aesthetic possibility. He has a flair for metal sculpture construction/fabrication and also plastic sculptures even though he believes that there are no limits to material usage in this modern time. He has published articles in University based journals and several newspaper publications on him. Dr. Ephraim K. Ugochukwu has worked with University of Lagos from 2005 to 2014 with more than 10 years of experience. Dr. Ugochukwu is a recipient of several awards among which are exemplary service SNA Lagos, distinguished artist and art scholar award 2017. |
