biography (Education/professional experience/professional accomplishments)

Robert Obiyo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences. He has a background in Democracy and Legislative Studies. He has served as a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Democracy, Rhodes University and University of Johannesburg, South Africa, and a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Politics and International Studies, Rhodes University, South Africa. He teaches Legislative Studies, African Politics, Political Parties and Pressure Groups, and Comparative Politics. He has published in scholarly journals, including Politikon, Politeia, and Journal of Contemporary African Studies. He is currently researching the constituency service of MPLs in South Africa’s closed party-list PR electoral system. He is a member of the South African Political Science Association and the Southeastern Nigerian Political Science Association.
