BIOGRAPHY (EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS)

John Obinna Onwe currently serves as an Assistant Lecturer and Coordinator of Physical and Health Education programme in the Department of Science Education at Alex-Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics Education from Ebonyi State University where he graduated with First Class Honours and became the best graduating student at both Faculty and Departmental level. Following his academic achievement, he was awarded a Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship (Masters and PhD) by the then Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Chief Martin N. Elechi during the 3rd convocation ceremony of Ebonyi State University  in 2012. He obtained his MSc degree in Sport Management from Bournemouth University, United Kingdom. He has an outstanding certificate in Excellence in Learning and Introduction to Education Practice from Bournemouth University, United Kingdom which qualifies one to work as Lecturer in any university in the United Kingdom.

He has research experience and currently serves as a reviewer for Journal of Health Education: Emerald Publishing, United Kingdom (Scimago Ranking), and has also attended different seminars/workshops on how to conduct good research in the United Kingdom. Following the establishment of Faculty of Education, he joined Alex-Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Science Education in September, 2016. He is a member of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and Bournemouth University Postgraduate Research Group, United Kingdom. His general research interest focuses on but not limited to sport fandom, globalisation and identity as well as education pedagogy.
