biography (Education/professional experience/professional accomplishments)
Oko Chima Enworo is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Sociology/Psychology/Criminology and Security Studies, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences. He has a background in Sociology and Development Studies, having graduated with First Class (honors) at the Bachelors and Masters Degree levels, respectively. He has therefore specialized in teaching Sociology and Social Development Studies to undergraduate students for some years.
Currently, Oko teaches Social Change and Social Problems, Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), and the Structure of the Nigerian Society to undergraduates. He is also involved in several ongoing research projects, including a study on Social Change Agents and Rural Family Transformation in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, led by the erudite Prof C. C. P. Nnorom.
He has published in international journals and is working on new studies to be published in highly indexed journals. He is particularly interested in research collaborations with colleagues, and is drawn to interdisciplinary research themes.
He has participated in international capacity building seminars, and attended International Conferences. He is a Jhapiego trained researcher in quantitative [e.g. the Redcap 2018 version Software] and qualitative data (FGD and IDI) gathering and processing, and participated in the Jhapiego led project- Respectful Maternal Care, of the Maternal and Child Survival Programme (MCSP) in Ebonyi State.
Oko’s membership of the Nigerian Young Academy is currently undergoing consideration.
Awards to his credit include Letter and Certificate of commendation (21st December, 2014) by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike, Ikwo (FUNAI) for outstanding contributions to the growth of the Department of Sociology and the Faculty of Social Sciences, and Letter of commendation (22nd December, 2016)by Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike, Ikwo (AEFUNAI) SERVICOM, in recognition of commitment to excellence, dedication to duty and willingness to devote time, energy, and personal resources to the execution of tasks.
