AE-FUNAI HOLDS 4TH RESEARCH FAIR AND EXHIBITION
The Directorate of Research and Development , Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, on Thursday, 12th December, 2019, organized 4th Research Fair and Exhibition as part of the programme of events for the University’s 4th Convocation ceremony.
The research works which according to Dr. Amobi Ekwe, Acting Director, Research and Development, and Chairman, Organizing Committee, “focused on topical issues like Climate Change, Toxicology, Environmental Studies, Renewable Energy Sources, Groundwater Quality Studies and lots more” He further stated that the in-depth diverse nature of the researches bear out the rapid advancement of AE-FUNAI, in seven years active pursuit and determination of staff to fulfill the core mandate of the University, which are teaching, research and community service and that the researchers are driven by the motto of the University, Excellence and Integrity. Dr. Ekwe made bold to state that “We are poised to meet our aspiration of attaining World class status in a few years time” He also said that they are keen on establishing linkages and research clusters, and the translation of research outcomes to industrial products and therefore called for collaboration, to achieve the goals and aspirations of the committee.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba in his remarks thanked the Director and members of the Planning Committee for their efforts in making the 4th Convocation Research Fair and Exhibition a success, stating that the University exists for three reasons, which are teaching, research and community service and that the university system should encourage teaching and more research so as to add value to the world through inventions made from such researches, adding that there should be extension of knowledge from the University to society. Prof Nwajiuba expressed excitement that organizations outside the university system have shown interest in the Research Fair and Exhibition. He iterated that AE-FUNAI is a leading Nigerian University that is encouraging students to do more on research and entrepreneurship in order to position for the present world and the future. Nwajiuba noted that climate change is real and that a lot of opportunities abound, saying that leading countries of the world have decided to abandon fossil fuels and that Nigeria should do so to join the revolution of solar energy. He stressed that he looks forward to AE-FUNAI having more participants and remarkable outing at the National Science Exhibition Fair coming up early next year. He thereafter declared the fair open.
There were paper presentations on the relevant areas including ‘Assessment of Soil Nutrients Capacity of Fermented Bed Product (FBP) Inoculated with Effective Micro-organism in Pig Production , E fficacy of Integrating Information Communication Technology in Teaching Method for Effective Chemistry Curriculum Delivery, Capacity- Building Needs of School Counselors for Under achievers’ Counseling in Secondary Schools, Cisplatin – Induced Upregulation of Redox Imbalance and NO/INOS/NF – Kb Signaling and Endocrine Deficits in Testicular Toxity: Protective Effect of Fresh Ginger Juice in Rats. There were exhibition and awards for best performance.
