FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL SCIENCES DEDICATED

Prof Philip Omoke 1The staff of the newly created Faculty of Management and Social Sciences converged together on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 to dedicate the Faculty to God.

The ceremony which was performed before the inaugural faculty board meeting was performed by the District superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Abakaliki, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Nshii at the Faculty of Science Auditorium, with the Vice Chancellor in attendance.

Rev. Emmanuel NshiiRev. Dr. Emmanuel Nshii who is also the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ebonyi State Chapter, described the quest to seek God first in the affairs of the Faculty as the right step in the right direction, adding that God is the reservoir of knowledge.

The Minister of God advised the Faculty to always carry out their duties with the fear of God, adding that as the character moulders of the youth they had a burden to nurture future leaders that are free of vices and immorality.

Untitled-3He prayed against negative attitudes that would put the faculty in bad light and reminded them that by seeking God first in the affairs of the faculty, they had entered into covenant with God, assuring that as long as they lived by the dictates of the covenant, God would always answer their prayers.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, commended the dean and members of the faculty for the initiative as one would hardly achieve anything without God.

He described the social sciences as the hub of the university and charged them to live up to the expectation through their teaching and research especially as FUNAI aspires to world class status.

Management Faculty staffHe regretted that the universities in the country were not doing well and charged the staff to change the trend. “You need to impact on your environment and I am looking forward to a dynamic, vibrant and resourceful faculty of social sciences that will attract national and international attention”, the Vice chancellor concluded.

Earlier, the dean of the faculty, Professor Philip Omoke, said they decided to take the case of the faculty to God first because he is the author of knowledge.

Professor Omoke described the faculty as the ‘nucleus of the University’ and promised that having started with God as the foundation, there would remarkable break-through by the staff and students of the faculty.

He thanked the Vice Chancellor for the magnanimity of the Senate in carving out the faculty, and the ministers of God for honouring the invitation and promised run a vibrant faculty.

The faculty of management and social sciences was carved out from the faculty of humanities and social sciences at the 32nd meeting of the Senate.
