FRIENDS CELEBRATE AE-FUNAI DVC ADMIN. AT 48.

Friends of Deputy-Vice Chancellor (Admin.), Prof. Philip Omoke, comprising staff and students, yesterday Wednesday, 28th August, 2019, gathered at DVC’s Office to celebrate him, as he turned 48 on Saturday 24th August, 2019.

Among those who were present to grace the “surprise birthday get-together” for a man who was described by Mr. Obinna Ngwu,  a staff in DVC’s Office,  as one who works his talk, was  Past President of SUG and Oha-na-ivo (Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo) Students Association, AE-FUNAI Chapter, Mr. Francis Ogbonna Njoku, who led the  present executives  of the association, to celebrate their mentor. While making presentation, Mr. Ogbonna expressed gratitude to God for giving the university and the association such an amiable and hardworking man in the person of Prof. Omoke and prayed that the Almighty God will continue to guide and imbue him with more desire to continue to serve the institution and humanity.

Numerous birthday gifts were presented to Prof. Omoke, including a portrait of him by Mr Obinna Ngwu, on behalf of his family and his boss’ son, Kelechi Philip Omoke, who were behind the surprise package.

DVC, Academic, Prof. Sunday Elom presented the toast and prayed God to continue to empower Prof. Omoke,  physically, intellectually and spiritually as he sojourns in his academic and other endeavours and  wished him many more fruitful years ahead.

Prof. Philip Omoke, who was rather surprised at the manner he was being celebrated without pre-knowledge of such gathering, thanked the organisers for finding worthy of such honour and prayed for God’s more abundant blessing on them and all present at the event. He said “with what you have done today and the love you have shown me by this singular act, I am more encouraged to get even more committed to serve the university and humanity to the best of my knowledge and ability”.

Highlight of the event was cutting of a special birthday cake presented by the organisers.
