FUNAI REPRESENTS A NEW THING – FORMER MOUAU VC

The former Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Prof. Ikenna Onyido has described the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State as an epitome of a new thing in the Nigerian University system.

Onyido made this declaration during the 17th Management Meeting of the University held on Tuesday, 4th April, 2017.

He explained: “We don’t want contamination and some toxicity out there to infect this University because it represents a new thing in the University system of this nation.”

The consummate University administrator used the opportunity to canvass for a pristine balance in academic activities in the University, noting that “our problem as a nation is that we have men without character leading us.”

He therefore admonished the University academics, especially members of the Management to combine their intellect with impeccable character in order to help the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba to achieve his lofty vision for the institution.

Describing the FUNAI Vice Chancellor as a man of character, intellect, balanced temperament and tremendous goodwill, Prof. Onyido stated that the University was fortunate to have him in the saddle at this auspicious time.

“I am fully confident that God will use you and your team to do great things in this University

“I am equally convinced that you will use the goodwill you have gathered over the years to define the right trajectory for this University”, he noted.

Recall that Prof. Onyido was one of the seasoned academics that worked and developed the University academic briefs at its inception in 2011. He also played notable roles during the interview of pioneer staff of the University which led to the aggregation of the best brains from different parts of the world to the University.
