
FUWA PRESIDENT SOLICITS SUPPORT FOR THE DOWNTRODDEN
The President of FUNAI Women Association and wife of the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Dr. (Mrs.) Chinyere Nwajiuba is soliciting support for the downtrodden especially indigent women, youths and less privileged children of the society.
Dr. Nwajiuba made the call when she led other members of the association on a courtesy call to the First Lady and Wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Rachael Umahi at the Government House Abakaliki.

Explaining the rationale for establishing the FUNAI Women Association, the president stated that it was an umbrella body of all women employees of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi state geared towards empowering the less privileged of the society especially women, youths and children. She added that the association is committed towards helping them to overcome their challenges through skills acquisition programmes so that they could become better members of the society.

Speaking further, the President called on Her Excellency, Mrs. Umahi and other well-meaning members of the society to join hands with her in providing succor for the downtrodden through the establishment of a FUWA Resource Centre to take care of indigent women, youths and children.
She said: “We want to express our gratitude to the government of Engr. Dave Nweze Umahi, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State for his numerous supports to the University, especially for reconstructing our road.”
“We also want to identify and partner with her Excellency, Mrs. Rachael Umahi because of her numerous support activities to the downtrodden through her pet project- the Family Support Programme.”
In hers response, Mrs. Umahi thanked the association for their visit and gifts for her pet project and commended them for their vision of better life for the downtrodden, pledging to support them in actualizing their organizational goal.
