The Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Sunday Elom, with other Officers of the University, recently received ten Resource Verification Panels from the National Universities Commission (NUC), at the University Senate Chamber.
Prof. Chukwunonso Ejike, Director of Academic Planning, who coordinated the exercise, introduced leaders of each panel, who in turn introduced other panel members for each of the programmes. The ten Resource Verification Panels which were comprised of 31 highly esteemed Professors in the various academic fields and from Universities across the country and 10 NUC Representatives, were at the University to verify the resources available for Postgraduate Programmes in Anatomy, Mathematics, Chemistry, Fine and Applied Arts, English and Literary Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Political Science, History and Strategic Studies, and Philosophy. The Panels also assessed the University’s readiness to commence undergraduate programmes in Geography, Architectures, Linguistics, Linguistics/Igbo, and Linguistics/French.
While welcoming the team, Professor Elom wished them sound mind as they engage in the assessment of the University’s Programmes.
At the end of the exercise, the respective panel leaders presented exit reports, pointing out that the ongoing exercise is not to criticize or degrade the University unnecessarily, rather to see how equipped the University is to carry on with the programmes, and make necessary recommendations. Most of the presenters commended the University management for what they saw on ground for the smooth take-off of the programmes and pointed out areas that need improvement.
Prof. Elom responded to the various recommendations on the different programmes verified, assuring that urgent measures would be taken to address the issues raised. He thanked them and wished them journey mercies to their different destinations.
