VC APPOINTS TWO NEW DIRECTORS

  • As Management sets up Certificate Verification Committee

The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, has approved the appointment of two new directors to take charge of the newly created Centre for Internationalization, Linkages, Advancement and Global Ranking and Centre for Development Assistance Management, Partnership and Training.

Dr. Afam Icha-Ituma is the pioneer Director of the Centre for Internationalization, Linkages, Advancement and Global Ranking. The Centre is charged with the responsibilities of raising the global visibility, attracting more international engagements and ensuring enhanced global ranking for the University among others.

Icha-Ituma is presently the Ag. Dean, Faculty of Education. He was the pioneer   Ag. Director of Academic Planning and ICT of the University

For the Centre for Development Assistance Management, Partnership and Training, Mr. Chris Uwadoka was appointed its pioneer helmsman.

The Centre is to drive the partnership between the University and the Institute of Development Assistance Management (IDAM), University of Port Hare, South Africa, train staff of governmental and non –governmental organizations on Development Assistance Management and on other short term professional certificate courses as well as promote business partnership between the University and investors.

Uwadoka was the former Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor on Linkages and Advancement.

In another development, the Vice Chancellor has constituted a Committee on Certificate Verification.

The inauguration of the Committee is a sequel to the decision of the University Governing Council that the academic certificates of all staff of the University be verified in order to ensure that only qualified people are working in the institution.

The members of the Committee include:

  1. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom (Chairman)
  2. Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Jonny Ogunji (Member)
  3. Director, School of Foundation Studies, Prof. Michael Onuu (Member)
  4. Director, Centre for Human Resource Development, Prof. (Mrs.) Chinyere Nnorom (Member)
  5. Coordinator of Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), Dr. Omaka N. Omaka.

The entire University workforce is expected to appear before the Committee with the original copies of their certificates. The verification exercise is to commence immediately after the ongoing 1st semester 2016/2017 academic session examination.
